Kathryn Renard, MD
Dr. Kathryn Brooke Renard is a licensed psychiatrist providing individualized care for adults in New York. Dr. Renard completed her psychiatry residency at Mount Sinai and is now completing a fellowship in Addiction Psychiatry at NYU.
She focuses on working with adults navigating anxiety, depression, OCD, burnout, ADHD, career transitions, relationship challenges, and alcohol and other substance use concerns. She is also experienced in treating trauma and PTSD, bipolar disorder, and other mood and anxiety conditions. Many of her patients balance demanding professional and personal responsibilities, and are looking for care that goes beyond brief medication visits.
Dr. Renard provides careful medication management and takes time to understand each patient’s story, so treatment is grounded in the full picture rather than symptoms alone. When medication is part of the plan, she is direct about what she recommends and why, and walks through the risks and benefits in detail. With training in cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, psychodynamic therapy, and supportive therapy, her appointments make room for both symptom relief and the deeper experiences that shape someone’s life.
Patients often describe her as warm, calm, and nonjudgmental, while also appreciating her willingness to be direct when it matters. She provides inclusive, affirming care for individuals from diverse backgrounds, including members of the LGBTQ+ community.
Beyond her clinical work, Dr. Renard has published peer-reviewed research on long-acting injectable antipsychotic medications and predictors of psychiatric readmission, as well as on how antidepressants influence decision-making in alcohol use disorder. Her research reflects an ongoing interest in how treatments work for patients in practice, and informs the evidence-based approach she takes in prescribing.
Dr. Renard sees patients primarily virtually, with select in‑person appointments available. Evening availability makes her a good fit for those balancing demanding professional and personal schedules. If you are seeking thoughtful, individualized psychiatric care, she welcomes you to schedule a consultation.
